Founder: Kamara Gray / Enterprise: Artistry Youth Dance / Discipline: Dance / Location: London
More about their enterprise:
Founder Kamara is an award winning dance teacher and performer of Jamaican heritage who has taught extensively in the UK, Australia and Kuwait. She founded Artistry Youth Dance after being concerned by the lack of diversity in the dance industry (in particular ballet and contemporary dance). Kamara wanted to provide opportunities to empower and support young black dancers and promote diversity in the arts.
Through a world-class training programme, they are leading the way in creating opportunities for young Black dancers, including facilitating scholarships which allow their students to train at leading dance and musical theatre vocational schools, universities, and conservatoires.
Artistry Dance believe dance is a platform to help young people grow their self-confidence and find and shine their light. Their inspiring community creates a safe space for young dancers, along with the opportunity to explore and develop their talent through a diversity of dance styles.
As a company, they are committed to developing the next generation of Black dance artists, and in doing so, proud to nurture a richer and more culturally diverse dance community in the UK.
