Akin is one of the founders of Five Apples and creators of the thrice BAFTA nominated and RTA winning children’s television show, Apple Tree House.
The show, which was first broadcast in May 2017 on CBeebies, is described as an everyday slice of modern life through children’s eyes and is a live-action series aimed at children under 11. Set in the fictitious Apple Tree House estate in London, it’s inspired by the writers’ own childhoods positive experiences of growing up in East London and a show that allowed the creators to explore ideas around diversity at a time where there wasn’t much else out there doing that.
