Founder: Blake Carlson-Joshua / Enterprise: Lightly / Discipline: Design / Location: London
More about their enterprise:
Describing himself as a curious designer & maker, Minneapolis born and London based, Blake is the founder of Lightly, a creative start up with the goal of making clean energy more fun and approachable for kids. Their first product was an interactive storybook series titled King Lumer and the Sustainables focused on teaching young kids the values of clean energy. The book came packaged with an interactive doll and a handful of DIY parent-led experiments that plugged directly into the doll. Their aim was to focus on long lasting fun, so that the learning becomes a byproduct of the story itself. Their belief was that children are the future and, if they can help plant an initial seed of interest in clean energy, who knows what type of creative explorations could be in store for the future.
Lightly is no longer active but Blake’s design work continues at full speed and has been showcased by publications such as House & Gardens.
